homeACQUIS is a pilot project spearheaded by NT EDUCATION in collaboration with the National Theatre of Ireland, the TheaterWerkstatt/Theater+Schule, Munich and Laboratorio Nove, Florence. The project is carried out with the support of the European Commission within the framework of the Leonardo da Vinci programme.

Ten youth theatres, schools and colleges from each of the four partnership countries will be invited to take part in the project in spring 2000. Each centre will explore the non-performance elements of making theatre supported by the resources and expertise of the four partnership theatres.

Students aged between 16 and 19 will be asked to focus on a particular area of theatre production through the ACQUIS website. They will have access to a portfolio of plays on which to base their ideas. They will be assigned a web mentor, a professional from one of the four theatres, who will tutor them in the area they have chosen. The project will culminate in Spring 2001 in an event where all the students will meet their web-mentor at their host theatre when their tasks are completed. The students from the UK, Italy, Germany and Ireland will take part in a video conference when they will be able to view one another's work. They will have a further opportunity to see the work of all four countries when it forms a touring exhibition.
